DISTORSHUN WINS BATTLE OF THE BANDS

Distorshun, one of the fine graduate level bands from the Houston Rock Academy participated in a "Battle of the Bands" in February. Although they were competing against bands that were much older and "more experienced" who didn't take Distorshun seriously, when the smoke had cleared at the end of the evening, Distroshun won the "Battle" with no one questioning the outcome.

Conratulations to all the members of Distorshun and their mentor Alex Hemphill as well as their parents and friends who support them.

Drum Circles Class

For some time now people have asked and I have seriously thought about creating a drum circles group at CSM.

This group will be open to any member of the public who would like to express themselves musically and reduce their level of stress in the process.

Drum circles are becoming more and more popular and are  great way to relieve the stress that comes with everyday living in the world today.

Beside the fun of playing the percussion instruments, every person, because of the varied vibrations being emitted by the instrument combinations, is the recepient of a wonderful sonic massage while participating in the drum circles.

No experience is necessary. If you think that you would like to participate in the drum circle program, but are afraid that you wouldn't fit in because you have never played a musical instrument before, don't let that stop you. I have run drum circles programs for 6 and 7 year old children who  never played an nstrument. Within minutes they were playing as well as any adult in the group.

If you would like to participate, contact us in person, by phone, or email us through the Contact US page on this website
